ArtWalk

ArtWalk is a self-guided art tour that occurs on the first Friday of the month (excluding June, July and August), 6:00PM – 10:00PM. The event occurs simultaneously at over twenty venues in downtown McAllen, including the Main Library, MPL’s designated ArtWalk venue. Interested in Exhibiting Your Work?

For the 2010-2011 season, the library welcomes applications from artists and bands with striking perspectives and sensibilities. Due to the popularity of ArtWalk, we are configuring the library's total exhibit space to accommodate the following types of exhibitors per ArtWalk night -- for free:

• Artists (3 per night) - painters, sculptors, photographers, and practitioners of similar visual arts.
• Artisans (1 per night) - practitioners of handmade decorative objects, such as jewelry, pottery, figurines, etc.
• Demo Artists (1 per night) - artists who can demonstrate their skills on-site and on-demand, such as through drawing, weaving, and painting.
• Student Group (1 per night) - a school-, college-, or university-based art class, club, or similar organization.
• Local Band Spotlight (1 per night) - local bands can apply to have their music showcased from a CD (they will not perform live) for the entire 4 hours of an ArtWalk night; bands will also be provided with a table to pass out flyers for upcoming shows or display a poster. CD sales are permitted, but the band is responsible for its own cashiering.
