Posted Saturday Apr 10, 2010
In a special meeting Monday, April 5, McAllen Mayor Richard F. Cortez and the McAllen City Commissioners approved final building plans for the new main library, being built at the site of the old Wal-mart, at Nolana Avenue and 23rd Street.
Commissioners also agreed to issue City of McAllen, Texas Combination Tax and Revenue Certificates of Obligation for $20 million of the $27 million cost of the project. Once funding is secured, construction could begin as early as July of this year.
The presentations, containing the floor plans and artist renderings of the new main library are available for download below.
