McAllen Library’s September 3 ArtWalk to Kick Off the Season

MCALLEN, TX, August 23, 2010 – McAllen Memorial Library invites the public to train its eyes and ears on the 2010-2011 ArtWalk season. Talented artists and musicians are lining up, and all are welcome to join us for the first ArtWalk of the season on Friday, September 3, 6-10PM at 601 N. Main St.

The artists and bands being featured September 3 include:

Paul Pritchett: photo realistic oil paintings
Isabella Smolarski: photography
Alex Coronado: sculpture
Crystal Ziemann: gourd art
L.Jean: oil portraiture
Valley Artistic Outreach: young art students will showcase their work in the Exhibit Room

A new feature this year, the Local Band Spotlight aims to bring positive exposure to local musicians. On September 3, we will showcase the music of Shawn Elliot.

What’s more, in light of the library’s forthcoming move to the New Main Library, keep an eye out for the New Library Ambassadors, library staff who will be on site to share excitement and information about the new building projected to open in June 2011.
