MPL Invites Readers to Join Online Book Clubs and Book News

MCALLEN, TX – If you can spare 5 minutes a day and have an email address, join one of our FREE online book clubs and sign up to receive the latest news about bestsellers and emerging titles in a variety of subjects. 

McAllen Public Library invites readers of all ages to utilize its Online Book Clubs and Book News services. Access to each service is free and you do not have to have an MPL card to join. Only an email address is required.

Online Book Clubs and Book News are powered by DearReader.com, a web-based reader advisory platform used by public libraries across the nation.

Here’s how it works:

Join one or more online book clubs.  Depending on what you like to read, you have the following 12 book clubs to choose from:

Once you join, you can sample a book every week before you commit to checking it out. Monday through Friday a quick 5 minute read is delivered to your email inbox, along with a link to quickly and easily see if the title is available in McAllen Public Library’s collections (remember: this includes Lark Branch and Palm View Branch).

You can also sign up for Book News: 21 monthly newsletters with the latest books from fiction to nonfiction, romance to mystery, and much more. Simply choose the newsletters that match your reading interests, and we’ll deliver our selections every month in your email. The featured books in the newsletter are directly linked to MPL’s catalog, so you can quickly and easily see if the title is available in MPL’s collections (again, this includes Lark Branch and Palm View Branch).
