Services for Patrons with Disabilities
McAllen Public Library offers visually assistive devices for the visually impaired community.
Users can make use of the following equipment:
• ZoomText: enlarges computer screen text
• JAWS: a screen reading software that reads information on your screen
• Merlin: a desktop electronic magnifier which enlarges printed materials (books, magazines, newspapers) on a video screen
This computer station is located in front of Electronic Classroom A at the Main Library. The software can be used with Microsoft Office programs and our online catalog. All reference staff has been trained to help customers use the software.
