Special Teen Programs
Teen Read Week
A nationwide event, TRW is celebrated annually the third week of October. The main theme for the Teen Read Week initiative is “Read For The Fun Of It,” and it means to promote a variety of books – from manga to novels, cooking to technology. There is also a sub-theme that changes each year.
During MPL’s Teen Read Week, you can participate in book talks, special programming, and vote for your top ten favorite books of the year. Teen Read Week 2009 was held October 19-25. Check back for updates about Teen Read Week 2010.
Teens’ Top Ten
Teens’ Top Ten is a "teen choice" list. Teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Nominations are posted each year in April, during National Library Week, and teens across the country officially vote on their favorite titles during Teen Read Week. Readers aged 12 to 18 can vote online, anytime that week, at ALA's Teen Read Week web site. MPL participates in this event by organizing book talks about the nominees. Teen Read Week 2009 was held October 19-25. Check back for updates about Teen Read Week 2010.
Teen Tech Week
Teen Tech Week encourages teens to take advantage of the library's music and media resources, such as music CDs, DVDs, audio books, and Internet access to online media.
Teen Tech Week 2010 was held March 7-13. Check back for updates about Teen Tech Week 2011.
