Library Bookstore

The bookstore at McAllen Public Library is proudly operated by the Advocates of McAllen Public Library, a dedicated group of volunteers who help manage book sales and support a welcoming space for readers of all ages.

The bookstore features gently used books donated by the public, along with items withdrawn from the library’s collection. These materials are offered at affordable prices, giving them a second life in the hands of new readers.

Become an MPL Advocate
Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? MPL offers volunteer opportunities for adults and teens (ages 17 & up) who want to make a difference, both in the library and beyond.

Volunteers can join the Library Advocates and assist in the bookstore, helping with tasks like organizing shelves, greeting customers, and supporting pop-up book sales. It's also a great way to earn community service hours while connecting with others who share your love of learning and service.

To apply, please visit the City of McAllen Human Resources Office at 1300 Houston Avenue or call (956) 681-3111. Volunteer applications are also available online at https://www.mcallen.net/departments/hr/volunteer.
